Every few seasons a trend comes along that is so undeniably comfy, practical and cool that it’s impossible not to jump on the bandwagon. Prada’s Monolith boots fit that exact bill, with their solid chunky soles, patent leather and masculine vibe. There isn’t a mini dress or an oversized coat they won’t look perfect with and the army of people sporting them at fashion week were testament to that.
There’s something about chunky boots that add a sense of cool to your look and can make an eccentric piece of clothing look way less try-hard. Imagine a full sequin dress with the Monolith, they’ll instantly take it from prom queen to front row worthy effortlessly. Their durability also makes them a perfect investment that will stand the test of time a lot longer than silk Monolo’s.
That being said, after recently going freelance I’m not in a position to drop £1,220 on a pair of shoes. Thankfully, however, as they’re such a standout style the high street has stepped up with some seriously good dupes. Prada’s originals come in two lengths, both knee-high and ankle boots and the high street has done a killer job of emulating both.
I’ve popped a few of my favourites below, but the ones I’m wearing in these pictures are Lamoda at ASOS. I like that they’re really simple and understated without too many buckles as I can wear them with busy patterned dresses or blazers. My go-to outfits to pair with them are short dresses and blazers or chunky knitwear and oversized coats, like this white one I picked up last week. As cold as it is right now, I’m guessing I’ll be wearing these well into spring and they’re such an easy piece to work into your wardrobe.
