Towards the end of last year, I was in such a low place, a lot of crappy things happened, I felt so overwhelmed and I was really struggling. We all have those moments, when you’re healing and trying to grow at the same time and it feels like nothing is working in your favour. Despite the negativity, I wanted to push myself to make some big changes and to work towards improving my situation.
I’m someone who constantly needs to be learning and growing, I get bored easily and I don’t like staying in the same place for too long. It can be exhausting, but it means that I’m always pushing myself to try new things and escaping my comfort zone. That’s why I decided to do just that and quit my job. It was hard because it was a good job, with good money but there wasn’t any progression and I felt like I had stagnated. At the same time, my personal life changed in such a way that it felt like the perfect point for me to attempt going freelance. Its always been my dream to work for myself and there was no other way to make it happen than by taking that leap.
At this point, I’m less than two weeks into my journey but starting rarebitsocial.com has taught me so much. Things like planning out my day, being solely responsible for my workload and being in control of my paycheck is a lot to get my head around but such a good challenge. I already feel less stressed, more inspired and more open-minded from the freedom. I’ve also joined a co-working space with other entrepreneurs so that I have an office to go to and people to talk to. That’s been a great step as I can still keep working hours and have colleagues but with the freedom of being freelance.
For the first time in a long time, I’m excited about where I’m going and as scary as it is, it’s also a lot of fun. I’m excited about everything I’m going to learn, the people I’ll meet and the opportunities it’s going to give me that I wouldn’t find otherwise. This is just the beginning but hopefully, by the next time I catch you guys up, I’ll have some big news. In the meantime, you can keep up with my progress via my new account, along with daily quotes and social media tips!
I’m so glad you got out of that low point and have started your freelancing journey, it all sounds exciting! I know you’ll make a great success of it too Christy, you got this girl! x
